For about a couple weeks I’ve been running on the roads in the fields behind our church-home in Colonia Libertad, in Matamoros, whenever it’s not unbearably muddy. So in the six or seven times I’ve actually been able to run, it’s been like a morning meditation time for my running partner(s) and I. That is, if my mouth shuts up for more than 30 seconds.
It’s actually kind of like a Nike commercial: two or three people running on a random dirt road with grass all around, shack-like houses on the horizon and a late sunrise.
Just do it.
What’s with the weird opener? Dunno. Just looks better than “Well, folks, here’s what’s going on this week…”
But, no, seriously, bet you’d like to know, right? I mean, that IS why you check this page…
Okay, so here’s a recap in 30 seconds (my shopping group is waiting on me). I watched a marachi duo perform on a bus they were riding to the downtown plaza, painted a ceramic object with ladies in prison, learned how to drive a van on Mexican back roads, went to part of a Pentecostal revival concert in Matamoros, helped a lady in Granjas take down her chain-link fence with a rusty hammer, walked in on a conversation that ended in a lady in Granjas accepting Christ, heard the Spanish version of my favorite praise song for the very first time, and got my feet soaked in icky mud multiple times.
I also killed a cockroach in the hall with two blows (it was a big’un, that takes more effort). That was my week’s highlight. Just kidding.
I honestly didn’t think that this early in the game I would have witnessed a decision to Christ(although, lamentably, I was no part of that). I’m excited for what’s to come. I’ll be hopefully visiting that colonia on Sundays on a regular basis.
I miss all of you at home and hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for continuing to support me in your prayers!
I will continue to pray for you and your team! I am glad to hear that you have already witnessed someone coming to Christ! God is so awesome! I will continue to pray for you and your team! Also, I enjoyed your opener 🙂
