Okay, if y’all (I’ma start talking like a southerner now ‘cuz I’ma be down south!) are fixin’ to protest these poem posts, go ‘head. But blame Jars of Clay and Galatians 5…why? Listening to “I Want to Fall In Love With You,” and “Good Monsters” reminded me of the purpose for this. Also reading Galatians 5. Pretty much is the outline for the Christian faith…yay grace! It just reminded me of how many people go to Church but are still searching and going through the motions. In a way I search every day too…but the yearning to be closer to God, to connect with Him everyday, direct line and no operator, is what drives it all. It’s not about being perfect but seeking what He wants you to be…in love.
So I’ll stop jabberjawin’ and slap this on the table. A warning about this one, too: it rhymes and my rhymes tend to sound like country songs or Beatles lyrics (I love those guys). If you like it, eat it up, if you don’t, feed it to them sows out back. SeeeeewwwwEEEEEEEEEE!
Yeah, okay, sorry about the
spaz moment. Aqui lo tienes.
MOTIONS
You kneel down with eyes shut, crucifix in hand
You pray that God bless this and that, just like before
Dear empty child, what is it that you cannot understand –
Your savior isn’t in a box, He really is much more.
The congregation lifts its hands — deceiving little show
They sing “We love you,” counting down the minutes till they leave
If they could only feel His heart, breaking as they go
Wandering spiders tangling in the sticky webs they weave.
Why not try and fill this aching void you own
By talking to him face to face, asking Him for love?
Dear children, with all this “Church” you should have known
That’s why He sent His son with that message from above.
