I don’t think I can count how many times I have typed up a good blog and, because of this blog site or the fabulous (this is minor sarcasm) connection we have in Mexico, it has been erased.  Ergo, the topic which I typed yesterday for my blog will appear at a later date.  I will hint at the forecoming by telling you it has to do with the “Christian poker face.”  That is all.

Since I have a mere twenty minutes this week to type a blog, I will let you know that things are going pretty well.  We had a couple of gals (meaning one younger than 30 and one older than 30, out of respect for ages) visit us here from Maine for about 10 days last week.  Heather, a former FYM to Mexico, and her mentor, Judy, came and spent the better part of their time here following us around, soaking up the Matamoros missionary lifestyle.

I will expound on their visit later, but suffice it to say that these women are true blessings from the Lord and their generosity has brought me great joy.  To Heather and Judy: you ladies are beautiful women of God and your friendship and help in my life will never be forgotten.  Few times in my life have I personally seen such genuine servant hearts touch lives the way you both did in such a short time.

Thanksgiving and the past few weeks have tugged at my heartstrings a little bit, I must confess.  The 50-80 degree weather, in comparison to snow-covered ground and roaring fireplaces, is very foreign to me.  I miss a lot of you at home, and I miss spending the holiday season bundling up, skating, hiking in the snow, catching snowflakes with my tongue, the works.  I don’t miss the holiday shopping season, though.  To all you who have to bear with nasty traffic and holiday hires…I salute you!  And be nice to them…I will be one in a couple weeks.

Yes, you read right.  I will be flying home on the 15th (late, so please don’t call me until the 16th) and I will be staying in Spokane for a month (till January 15th).  I cannot wait to see you all and tell you about my trip.  My one unfortunate announcement:  since my digital camera was missing for the first month, and had a bad mishap with a fellow FYMer’s cologne, it is now out of commission.  Therefore, I will have some printout photos and hopefully some posted online from the time when my camera still worked.  I promise my return in May will yield many more results ;).   Thank you, all, for supporting me!   Look forward to a letter in your inboxes.

Hasta entonces,

Jill
